Trigger point injections involve the insertion of a needle into the tight muscle bands, muscle knots and trigger points. A local anesthetic is injected directly into the affected muscle(s) of the neck and back. This low-risk intervention can be helpful with improving pain in the isolated muscles with spasm and muscular trigger points.
